Flex-hones are used to lightly surface the bore of your cylinder, creating a cross hatch of scratches that helps your rings seat tightly to increase compression. They also smooth over imperfections around intake and exhaust ports. This type is 240 grit aluminum oxide (AO), recommended for cylinder coatings such as chrome and Nikasil. We also offer the more industrial 320 grit silicon carbide (SC) which works on all surfaces including cast iron cylinders. Honing is done by attaching a well oiled flex hone to a hand held drill (at 600-800 RPM) and oscillating the hone up and down 8 to 10 strokes for approximately 15-20 seconds. Hones are slightly larger than bore size.

The product is called Evapo-Rust. It works. I am not being paid or compensated to review this product. I just enjoy sharing with people my experiences with products whether good or bad. In the case of Evapo-Rust, I am very happy that it performs as it claims. I have used this product to remove rust from tools and machine parts, as well as automotive parts that needed restoring. Once you remove dirt and grease from the part it is ready to be submerged in Evapo-Rust. It will get all of the rust off of the item without scrubbing or agitation. It just takes time. If you want to speed the process up I find that scrubbing the part while submersed in the Evapo-Rust with a nylon or wire brush will accelerate the results. Evapo-Rust works! Try it for yourself and you will see how this product can make your projects easier.
