www.helmforge.com Sorry that much of this video is sideways! It’s a bit hard to understand how much area this was and how thick the brush on it was. It was pretty solid, and I hope you can kind of get the idea of how much work went into taking out that much brush in six hours by a single man with only custom forged hand tools to do the job. If the tools had not perfromed as well, I couldn’t have done nearly as much. If I hadn’t overstruck several times and weakened the ax handle cuasing it to break, I could have gone a ways further. I made all the tools used in the video.

It just kept snowing. By the time it ended on January 8, 1996, there was more than two feet on the ground where we lived, and deeper drifts around the cars. And me, I had only a snow shovel — no power equipment. It got tiring… Although I got a lot done by the next day, you’ll see there was still a long way to go…
