    Excellent collection of videos.
    Thanks a bunch.
    5/5

No, BUT it can penetrate the rings and dilute the grease that the rings are sealing in and cause premature wear on the pins. It’s fine to wipe down the chain with it on a rag, but I wouldn’t saturate the chain with it…

    You are a real pro.

My bike got cleaned and is shining most of the time.

    Thanks.

  5. janderson505 says:

doesnt wd40 damage the O rings on the chain?

  6. imam21 says:

man, you must have done some bike cleaning before! lol

  7. RICOMC7000 says:

    nick,tx for the ideas…

  9. italianboy2k7 says:

hi nick, could you do all of the stuff you did to your bike on a pit bike? thanks

  10. mux256 says:

I’d recommend to aplly some more lube to the chain directly after the first ride. The chain will be warm then and the lubricant can move into the chain more easily.

    Hi there

My advice with chrome is never to use an abrasive polish. Cosmetic chrome is very thin and repeated polishing will evetually wear through it. Use a wax instead and apply often for best results.

    Kind regards

    Hey Nick,

Got a question for you. I’m riding on a Honda Shadow and there are a lot of chrome parts all over. I loved these videos but I don’t know exactly what, if anything, on your bike was chrome? Any tips when it comes to cleaning and polishing, etc.? THanks

  13. cutegreenfrog says:

Thanks for all the vids, theres some good tricks in them =)
i do wonder tho how long you spend riding the bike compared to cleaning it :P

  14. LeviathanRan says:

Oh I always coat the bike wit ACF-50 after a clean, thanks again nick!
    Top bloke!

  15. DrivenandRidden says:

It’s going to work, probably not quite as well, but you can’t spend all your life cleaning a bike can you! You could always get some protective spray ACF-50 for example, and clean it less frequently.

    Cheers

  16. LeviathanRan says:

A bucket of cold water work just as well as a hose? thanks!

  17. DrivenandRidden says:

    Hi there

I would recommend a quick rinse with cold water at the end of the day, the cold water slows the salts reaction and of course washes most of it off. Just in the worst areas, under the mudguards and front of the engine.

    Cheers

    Nick

  18. LeviathanRan says:

    Hi Nick, great video!

A question on up keep, I ride all year round in all weathers so that of course means I’m going to get a salt bike!
Now, since I commute to work on the bike cleaning it every single day just isn’t practical and I’m tired after a shift at work.
Would you say one good wash at the weekend is enough to keep the bike from falling into decay?

  19. Bikeman1087 says:

You have good videos, but you didnt say much about lubing the chain. If you dont lube the chain, chain will
wear rapidly and causes bigger power loose.

  20. DrivenandRidden says:

It’s fine to use car shampoo, it’s better than washing up liquid because it contains much less salt. You can get WD40 in 5 litre tubs from motor factors and they usually come with spray guns and should cost less than £15. Bargain!

    Cheers

i never seen such big wd40 containers.. great job thanks. btw, i just bought a bike, dont know much.. if it ok to just use car cleaning soap and rub it all over bike, and just hose it down?

  22. DrivenandRidden says:

    Hi

I always use a wax based chain lube that’s O-ring friendly. In this case it was Wurth Chain Wax.

    Regards

    Nick Hine

  23. DionRinaldi says:

What type of oil did you put on the chain?
